Hot on the heels of the announcement of Crystal Cruises’ all new yacht Crystal Esprit and the line’s plans to enter the world of river cruising, the ‘world’s most awarded luxury cruise line’ has just announced plans for the world’s largest mega-yacht, Crystal Endeavor.
Weighing in at 25,000 gross tons and catering to 200 guests, the new polar class mega yacht will be the most spacious of its kind afloat when she makes her debut in August 2018. The clue’s in the name when it comes to the exploratory nature of her planned itineraries, named as she is after Captain James Cook’s research ship HMS Endeavour, and she will be specifically designed for global expeditions in the Arctic, Antarctic and tropical regions.
So what exactly is a polar class vessel? As the first purpose-built Polar Code compliant Yacht, Crystal Endeavor will be able to explore polar regions during summer and autumn and in conditions which would otherwise be too icy for other vessels. The ship will follow the path of migrating whales and visit remote islands which other ships are unable to reach.
One of the main talking points of the ship is sure to be its peripheral craft, namely two helicopters, two submarines, fleet of Zodiac and Seabobs – the world’s most high-tech underwater scooter. However, in the midst of all this intrepid adventure, Crystal’s signature public space Palm Court will be very much in evidence and will be the perfect place for whale-watching, while the ship will also boast a spacious Spa and Conservatory area, featuring a salon and Wellness Centre. Crystal Endeavor will also offer cruisers the use of an Infinity Pool which converts into a dance floor or alfresco dining area and on the subject of food, there will also be a total of six different venues to choose from.
As for your accommodations, standard suites will measure a minimum of 400 square feet, and will be the largest luxury suites at sea, while the two Owner’s Suites will measure a palatial 3,122 square feet. Each will feature a master bedroom and two guest bedrooms, indoor and outdoor living areas, a private conservatory garden, outdoor Jacuzzi and private spa. If you’re looking for the suite to end all suites, each Owner’s Suite can be connected to a Penthouse Suite to create a combined square footage of 3,928, none other than the largest accommodations afloat.
