As an ultra-luxury line with a reputation for offering a fantastic choice of themed shore excursions and indeed, themed cruises, Hapag-Lloyd always has something new of interest in store for culture vultures and the latest announcement is certainly no exception.
Guests setting sail on the line’s Europa 2 this September 2016 will enjoy a new art-themed cruise, the appropriately-named art2sea, which will feature onboard lectures and discussions with various experts along with guided shore excursions to a host of galleries, museums and exhibitions.
During art2sea, guests can look forward to hearing the expert opinions of such luminaries as Axel Ruger, Director of the Van Gogh Museum, art dealer and historian Thole Rotermund and Hamburg gallery owner Carola Persiehl. The renowned Whitney Museum of American Art in New York is just one of the places guests will visit on the cruise and there will also be an on-board artist who will be creating live portraits throughout the voyage.
The art-themed cruise has proved so popular that art2sea 2017 has already been planned, which will consist of a 13-day Hamburg to Lisbon sailing, calling at St Peter Port, St Malo, Bilbao, where guests will visit the world-famous Guggenheim Museum (pictured above), Vilagarcia and Leixoes for Lisbon.
Europe 2 is certainly no stranger to the art world and is the perfect choice for art-lovers whichever voyages they choose, thanks to her hosting over 800 original works of art, some of which have been created with specific areas of the ship in mind.
Whether you’re an art-lover or not, we have a great selection of Hapag-Lloyd cruises on Europa 2 available, so take a look at what we have on offer, then call us today to book your place on board.
