Windstar Cruises launch new 2014 food and wine cruise

Windstar Cruises has just announced that it is to offer a second special food and wine-themed voyage in 2014, following the popularity of its April Culinary & Wine Delights of Spain sailing.

The voyage will take place on-board Windstar Cruises flagship vessel, Wind Surf, and is set to depart from Barcelona on November 15, 2014 and will call at such Mediterranean ports as Valencia, Cartagena, Cadiz and Malaga, ending in Portugal’s capital, Lisbon.

Chief Executive Officer of Windstar Cruises, Hans Birkholz, explained why the sailing yacht line had decided to operate another such cruise, saying: “Our guests have expressed strong interest in culinary and wine themed cruises. In fact, our first such voyage, Culinary & Wine Delights of Spain, sold out so quickly we are offering this second voyage by popular demand.”

Sticking with the successful formula (and naming convention) Culinary & Wine Delights of Spain II is perfect for all lovers of Spanish wine and cuisine and allows them to get an authentic taste of the country’s traditional dishes and vintages, as well as some of its most culturally-rich cities.

For the 2014 voyage, Windstar Cruises will welcome Classical Wines founder Stephen Metzler and Almudena de Llaguno as hosts for the voyage. Classical Wines are one of America’s key exporters of Spanish wines, so its founders are ideally placed to inform guests about the various vintages, the techniques employed to create them and of course, how they complement the country’s signature dishes.

Each port on the voyage offers a different culinary-themed excursion, from wine museum tours to hands-on cooking lessons and during the voyage, guests can enjoy hosted dinners, a selection of complimentary Spanish wines and an on-board flamenco performance.

Also if you’re the type of person who enjoys a flutter after dinner, then you’ll be pleased to know that the Wind Surf, like the rest of the Windstar Cruises fleet, operates a lively, fully-equipped casino. In related news, the line has just announced that it also intends to operate casinos on its three forthcoming vessels, including the 212-star Pride, which is due to set sail in April 2014.
